Born on the 4th of March in Rauschengesees (Thüringen).

During his childhood and youth he took piano- and organ lessons from the Rauschengesees congregation`s priest Gerhard Voltz

1974-79
Church music studies at the church music schools in Eisenach and Halle, organ under Gottfried Preller and Hans-Günter Wauer, counterpoint and harmony with Johannes Petzold.

1976-88
Participation in the Gera holiday classes for contemporary music, especially in the classes of Paul-Heinz Dittrich und Lothar Voigtländer.

1979
Marriage with Karin Armbrecht, birth of daughter Susanne.

1983
Birth of daughter Johanna

1979-82
Church musican in Eisenberg (Thüringen).

1982 bis 1986
Master student under Prof. Georg Katzer at the Akademie der Künste der DDR in Ostberlin.

1987
Relocation to Zepernick (close to Berlin), working as a freelancing composer. Since then also assistant professor for harmony and aural training at the Hanns Eisler conservatory

since 1990
Teaching harmony, aural training and composition at the Musikschule Kreuzberg

1992
First realisation of the RANDSPIELE together with his former wife Karin Zapf at the Sankt-Annen-Kirche Zepernick

Formation of the Ensemble JungeMusik.

Artistic direction of the advancement class Jugend komponiert of the Landesmusikrat Brandenburg at the Musikakademie Rheinsberg.
